Pregnancy
A lifesaver during my pregnancy was a pregnancy pillow, what an amazing piece of equipment! I bought it off Amazon, but they're very easy to find online. It was the only thing that helped me get comfy in bed (or couch!).
Bio Oil - I applied this every single night to avoid stretch marks and it worked like a charm for me.
Twin-friendly essentials
All expecting mums will read about the standard stuff you need to buy and checklist the crap out of that, of course. However, there were a few things that stood out for me as really handy and made day-to-day tasks easier:
Cot with changing table - We had one of these downstairs. I found it really handy to have somewhere to place them safely for a minute if I needed to grab something or use the toilet, and since it had the changing unit already included we didn't buy a changing table.
My own would never stay there happily for long periods, they never wanted to be put down anywhere - but that wasn't the cot's problem to be fair!
Nappy bin - A must for sure. We had one upstairs and one downstairs, and if it'd been up to me I would have had one in every corner of the house - so handy!
Nappy caddy - I bought these off Amazon and they were really helpful to have all the essentials together and easy to transport so wherever I changed them, I had everything I needed.
One bassinet - Looking back one bassinet for the two of them would have been enough. We had bought two for them to sleep next to our bed but as they were tiny and clearly wanted to be together, we never actually used the second one. They only started sleeping in their own separate cots when we moved them to their own room.
Twin feeding pillow - For both breastfeeding and bottle feeding, this was extremely helpful.
Car seats
Osann One 360 - We had two of these for each car and found them great. They were very supportive and sturdy, and they would change as they got bigger.
Bath support
Angelcare bath support - Once they grew out of their baby bath, these were lifesavers to bathe them together. I used these in the shower to get them both washed at the same time and really loved them. I didn’t use them as long as I would have liked as my twins were always very active so it wasn’t long before they started to try and wiggle out of them. But for the time I was able to use them, they were totally worth it.
Bath seat
Angelcare Aqua Soft Touch Baby Bath Seat - These were the next step after they grew out of the little bath beds. Also amazing to have them together in the shower. The suction was pretty good so I was able to use them for longer, my baby girl eventually learned to push herself up and out of it so I stopped using them then.
Double buggy
Out n about Double Nipper – I got this as a gift from another twin mum as she was looking to pass it on. It’s one of the slimmest I’ve seen out there to get in and out of doors easily enough, it squeezed through most cafes, shops, etc… and even my own front door. The single-wheel at the front is also helpful for turning easily.
Highchair
We went through a few highchairs as we wanted them to kind of look nice and "match the house decor", but in all honesty, the best ones we used were the cheap IKEA ones that we had at my mum’s house. They’re so easy to clean, they stack on top of each other and they are slim and neat so they don’t take up a lot of space.
Cots
Also IKEA, those cots have gone through so much and they're still going strong. They've survived all sorts of bouncing, jumping, swinging, climbing... I think the only thing they haven't tried to do with their cots is set them on fire. You can also turn them into toddler beds by taking down one of the longer sides so that's where we're at at the moment.
Mat & playpen
I bought a large foam mat and big play pen to go around it. I really loved these - they created such a safe space for them to play and keep all the toys together.
Snack cups
Munchkin snack cups - Great for snacking on the go without making a (huge) mess. Mess will still happen though, no matter what you buy. They will always find a way.
