You can't keep everything... or can you?
It can be hard to get rid of things that belong to them, especially during the first year. Here's some ideas to conserve those items that you just cannot let go of.
Framing.
We framed their first babygrow and their first pair of shoes - we brought them to a framer and he did an amazing job. I absolutely love seeing these on the wall every day.
I've framed a lot of things after that, to be honest, their first birthday candle, their first drawing, their first "art" from Preschool, random leaves & rocks brought from a walk in the woods... I just really like to display memories around my house!
Teddies.
We had teddies made with their first Christmas' clothes. They look really cute and it's a lovely way to keep those special outfits.
Blankets.
I had two of these made with baby clothes that I just couldn't not keep. I have one for each and I love them. My parents liked it so much that I also had one made for them with another set of mixed clothes, and another one for my uncle (who was also fascinated by this idea).
Other ideas for sentimental keepsakes:
Ink-free handprints.
It was a challenge to get this right when they were babies, but if you fully clear your evening and buy a few kits to allow for plenty of mistakes, it's not completely impossible. Once you get there it's a lovely piece of art! It's totally safe for their sensitive skin, too, as their hands don't get dirty at all.
Birth poster.
1:1 scale of your babies when they were born. You can choose the style and everything, it looks amazing.
Heartbeat soundwave.
I had this done for Father's day when I was still pregnant. My friend let me borrow her fetal doppler and I recorded the heartbeats on my phone. I then had them printed as soundwaves and, you guessed it, framed them. It looks so cool.
Star map/night sky.
We don't have these for them but my husband's family gifted one of these to us with the day we got married and it's lovely so it would work really well for the day of birth, too.
